Description: This seminar will discuss using the ROCm software stack and HIP programming model to build and run applications on AMD GPUs. This will include giving an overview of available AMD GPUs, an overview of the ROCm software stack and available tools, guidance on developing GPU codes using HIP, and using HIPIFY to more easily port Cuda GPU codes to HIP. Discussion and examples will be provided for Blueback, which provides AMD Instinct MI300A APUs that combine CPU cores and GPUs on the same chip, and for Ruth, which provides more traditional discrete AMD MI250X GPUs.
