Description: This seminar will introduce GNU parallel and demonstrate how it can be used to run embarrassingly parallel workflows efficiently on HPC systems. Parallel supports a variety of tasks, such as running basic commands, processing data, or running multiple instances of Python or MATLAB simultaneously. It can also be used to simplify shell scripts that start multiple tasks with loops or tools like xargs. We will cover common use cases, syntax, and integration with batch schedulers.
