
Description: HPCMP systems across all DSRCs employ the Lustre high-performance, parallel file system for storage of user data. Parallelism is achieved by splitting files into data blocks called stripes and spreading file data across multiple storage servers, which can be written to and read from in parallel. Striping increases bandwidth because multiple processes can simultaneously access the same file. However, choosing an appropriate stripe count and stripe size for storing a file’s data when configuring Lustre file striping are essential to achieving optimal I/O performance.
This seminar provides an overview and introduction to the Lustre high-performance, parallel file system and covers the fundamentals of using Lustre on HPCMP systems to achieve efficient I/O performance.
