Description: Do you wish it was easier to duplicate your workflows on other machines so you can continue working despite maintenance, downtime or congested queues on your preferred HPC? Do you ever find yourself wishing the interactive command line had just a few more built-in conveniences, so you could spend less time tweaking and more time focusing on what really matters?

HPCs come with a variety of operating systems and environments that, while similar, can differ in non-trivial ways. Configurations between DSRCs and even among machines with similar architectures can have subtle nuances that cause friction in command-line workflows, especially when migrating workflows between machines. These inefficiencies lead to common frustrations that reduce productivity.

This training event will introduce a set of utilities, scripts and dotfiles that the User Productivity Enhancement and Training (PET) program has assembled to help simplify common tasks and make the command-line experience more consistent across HPCs. Attendees will have a chance to try out these tools for themselves, and to grow more comfortable switching between systems.
