Description: This seminar will present an overview of LIKWID and a subset of the tools available. This will also cover limitations of the tools on HPCMP systems. The aim is to introduce user to a set of easy-to-use-tools to better understand a system’s architecture and how architectural differences can affect one’s application.
LIKWID tools were developed to provide a framework to quantify the impact of microarchitectural differences in a systematic way. LIKWID is a set of command line tools that can be used to
- Understand compute node topology including cores, caches, and NUMA
- Understand how to pin thread to virtual/physical cores or sockets
- Measure performance of a core or compute node
- Measure bandwidth using a core and a compute node
- Measure hardware performance counters for flops, memory access
