Description: This workshop will provide a description, and the hands-on training, for a recently developed massively parallel code Athena-RFX2 intended for high-fidelity modeling of multi-phase flows with varying degree of compressibility in the Eulerian-Lagrangian framework. The code is capable of modeling flows with embedded liquid particles undergoing evaporation and secondary atomization, as well as solid particles with surface reactions. Athena-RFX2 also includes a variety of multi-step chemical kinetics mechanisms for the combustion of both light gaseous fuels (hydrogen, methane, syngas) and heavy liquid fuels (dodecane, various jet fuels). It also includes a range of other physics including magnetohydrodynamics and thermonuclear reactions in dense plasmas. The workshop will provide a detailed description of the physical models implemented in the code as well as the hands-on training both from the users' and future developers' perspective.
